Attract Money
Systaime – Michaël Borras (FR)
video installation, 2017
In “Attract Money”, Systaime offers an explosive mashup of the Internet aesthetics, where information, images and comments provide a frame of today’s digital pop culture. The artist remixes web images and uses an audiovisual spectacle to display the patterns that are dominating the Internet, its icons, its manifestations and its digital prosperity. We are the spectators of what he chooses to present us with. What happens in the video does not have much to do with our own lives, but is more a kind of close esoteric manifestation of the web culture.
Michaël Borras a.k.a. Systaime (FR), born in 1973, completed graduate studies in art. He is the founder of the movement French Trash Touch (1999) and an important participant of net.art and the international alternative network of digital art. A multidisciplinary artist, he has worked in many areas: remixes, mashups, blogs, books, CDs, artworks, photos, audio/video performances, music videos. In 2011, Systaime founded the Super Art Modern Museum (SPAMM), an online museum collecting digital pieces from over 700 artists. He is one of the French initiators of the “Facebook art”, using the account “ʞooqǝɔɐɟ”, which has been regarded as a more abstract artistic response to social media.
His works have been exhibited, among others, at the Internet Pavilion of the 54th Venice Biennale, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the UNTITLED Art Fair in Miami.
