Oceanfront Manhunt
Yelena Zhelezov (US)
video, 2016, 4:39
The video is made by screen-recording a virtual walk through a 3D model of a Malibu beach house for sale on a real estate website and valued at $3,000,000. The accompanying voiceover narration draws on early Soviet rhetoric and Object Oriented thought that rejects privileging the human over other existences. By defamiliarising the mundane activity of online shopping, the work explores the possibilities in re-interpretation of existing economic structures and human/object relationships.
